Soleplate for Female Footballers

Lower extremity injuries in football disproportionately affect female players, with ACL injuries occurring 2 – 3 times more frequently compared to their male counterparts. One significant contributing factor identified in previous research is the footwear design. A considerable number of female players resort to wearing men’s football boots due to the absence of options tailored to women. This project was on the design of a soleplate specifically for female players to mitigate lower extremity non-contact injuries among by reducing the forces transmitted through the knees and ankles during directional changes, all while ensuring a fit that promotes the natural movement of the foot.
